It’s that time of the year when loud cheering and jeering in public is the norm. It’s that time to plop yourself down in front of the TV, munching on Cheeto’s or nacho’s and gallons of soda/beer. It’s also that time when you hole yourself in your house, and the outside world becomes non-existent.
It’s finally Super Bowl time!!!…The time to cheer your favorite team on to victory, while stuffing yourself with junk food.
However, whether you’re rooting for the Packers, 49ers, Giants, Jets, Ravens, Bears, or even the Buccaneers, during halftime we’re all united in grooving with the same celebrity.
In a dire attempt to draw in a massive crowd, halftime shows are mostly dedicated to the music industry, creating a platform for celebrities to belt out the crowd favorites.
This year Beyonce and her former band Destiny’s Child had the floor, to give us a sterling performance that even allowed the audience, at the end of the day, to forgive the organizers for the 34minute power outage midway.
During the game, when the Ravens were leading the 49ers, the stadium seemed to have blown a fuse, or experienced a technical difficulty of some sort, leaving fans in total darkness for more than half an hour. The reason’s still unknown. However the game resumed after a long wait, to later witness the victory of the Ravens over the 49ers.
The game may have had to wait for a while but Beyonce was relieved that the blackout hadn’t occurred during their performance. She told ‘omg! Insider’,
“It’s a live television show, it’s the biggest show in America. There’s so many things that could happen and God was on my side, so I’m very, very happy that it went well and the power went out after.”
Beyonce’s sizzling show comes in the wake of her controversial performance during the US Inauguration Day, where many claimed that she lip-synched through the national anthem.
Layer, after Beyonce was accused of faking her way through her performance during such an important event in American history, the singer finally admitted to having done so but not before proving that she could sing live.
A day before her Super bowl performance, Beyonce sang the live version of the anthem ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ before the press to show them that she still had it within her. The singer then went on to admitting that she did indeed sing along to a previously recorded tape, on the day that President Obama was sworn in. She claimed,
“I practice until my feet bleed and I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra. Due to no proper sound check, I did not feel comfortable taking a risk. It was about the president and the inauguration, and I wanted to make him and my country proud, so I decided to sing along with my pre-recorded track, which is very common in the music industry. And I’m very proud of my performance.”
The singer has every right to be proud, as she has proved time and again that she isn’t just a pretty face, but one whose voice has the power to elate hearts all over. Lip-synched or not, her performance manages to enthrall the audience each and every time, leaving no room for disappointment ever.
