Dan Marino, a former Miami Dolphins quarterback, has admitted having an affair with Donna Savattere, his CBS colleague. He confirmed about having an affair and fathering a child in 2005. Dan is known for keeping his personal life private. He had never voluntarily brought his family into media’s spotlight. When Marino started his professional life, he was one of the most eligible bachelors. He soon gave up his single status and married his long-time sweetheart, Claire. He has been married for 28 years now and they have six children together. Their marriage is dubbed as one of the most ideal relationships.
According to New York Post report, Savattere was 35-year old production assistant in CBS when they started having an affair. She gave birth to their daughter Chloe in 2005. “This is a personal and private matter. I take full responsibility both personally and financially for my actions now as I did then. We mutually agreed to keep our arrangement private to protect all parties involved,” he said in an interview to New York Post. He also confirmed that he and his wife will be staying together despite his infidelity, “My wife and I have been married for almost 30 years and have six children together and we continue to be a strong and loving family.”
Marino is in touch with his youngest daughter and has been financially supporting her since her birth. He had reportedly given Savattere millions to take care of their daughter and she had agreed to move to Texas. Currently Savattere is married and has a second child.
Marino opened a chain of restaurants since retiring and serves as a program analyst for CBS. The ex-player is going to work on Super Bowl Sunday and the network has no plans of pulling him out. A CBS representative stated, “Dan has said all there is to say on this matter, and will be in his usual role on our broadcast Super Bowl Sunday.”
Off late, politicians were rocked by adultery scandals. First it was Senator and former vice president candidate John Edwards who was forced to admit his affair with campaign videographer Ryelle Hunter. His wife was battling with cancer then. Next it was Arnold Schwarzenegger who revealed his affair with the family’s housekeeper. Both the couples separated.
