Jennifer Lawrence is being showered with awards this season for her performance in the movie ‘Silver Linings Playbook’. The SAGs also leaned towards Miss. Lawrence and honored her with the best actress award. In her acceptance speech, she talked about how she got her first SAG ticket, “I’ll explain that, I earned my SAG card when I was 14, I did an MTV promo for My Super Sweet 16. And I remember getting it in the mail, and it being the best day in my entire life, because it officially made me a professional actor.”
But more than her award, her evening gown designed by Christian Dior made headlines the next day. When she was announced the winner, Lawrence had a long way to reach the stage in her straight-cut midnight blue satin gown. She had to lift her dress to climb the stairs. The dress seemed to come apart and she quickly adjusted it before receiving her award. This made the internet go crazy. People wondered if her gown ripped before she accepted the award.
Though we are still not sure if it is a wardrobe malfunction or not, the fashion house has confirmed the dress did not split during the ceremony. The dress seemed to rip when she hugged her colleagues after the winner was announced and later, when she made her way to the stage the dress seemed to have ripped further.
The fashion house clarified the dress is made with different layers of tulle and satin and it is what viewers saw when she lifted the gown. They further clarified the gown was not ripped or split and there was no wardrobe malfunction. It is simply the design of the gown.
Though Miss. Lawrence’s gown looked deceptively classic, her gown-lift made it look like two pieces of satin materials put together. A Rumor over a dress-split is the last thing the actress would have wanted as her night was already marred by the pneumonia she had been laid down with. But a win wasn’t to be over-shadowed by a mere gown-split. Her crowd-pleasing speech was applauded by numerous fans and social networks were filled with congratulatory messages to the 22-year-old actress.
